Leather bag exports from India
Reasons why leather bag exports from India will continue to grow:
After a prolonged period of market slowdown caused by the Covid 19 Pandemic which led to 27.72% decline in Indian exports during 2020-21, we are back on the growth track with exports from our sector showing impressive resurgence during 2021-22. Export of leather, leather products and footwear increased from USD 146.79 million in April – May 2020 to USD 641.72 million in April – May 2021, registering 337.17% growth. This is a very good beginning for us, which we hope to sustain in the coming months.
We are optimistic that once the pandemic situation settles down, the overall demand will increase and there will be more opportunities for the sector. We should be prepared for unexpected challenges and at the same time, utilise the emerging market opportunities.

2022 Update:
Leather exports from India have been a significant contributor to the country’s economy for many years. In 2022, India is expected to continue to be a major player in the global leather market.
India has a long tradition of leather production, with a skilled workforce and advanced infrastructure. The country is home to a number of tanneries, which process raw hides and skins into finished leather products. These products are then exported to markets all over the world, including the United States, Europe, and Asia.
One of the main advantages of Indian leather is its high quality. Indian leather is known for its durability, strength, and softness, making it a popular choice for a wide range of products, including footwear, handbags, and clothing.
In recent years, the Indian government has made efforts to support the leather industry and increase exports. This includes initiatives to modernize the sector and improve the efficiency of production. As a result, India’s leather exports have grown steadily, and the country is now one of the top exporters of leather in the world.
Looking ahead to 2022, it is expected that India’s leather exports will continue to grow. This is due in part to the increasing demand for leather products globally, as well as the efforts of the Indian government to support the industry.
Overall, India’s leather exports are an important part of the country’s economy, and they are likely to remain a significant contributor in the years ahead.
